JT have increased the cost to call some international destinations from a landline for both residential and business customers.
In the past, JT have offered varying prices for calls to each country, ranging from seven pence per minute for some of the more commonly called destinations such as Portugal, Australia and USA to over 200 pence per minute for some of the more remote destinations. From 27 June 2025, the charges are now moving to a single 45 pence per minute cost for all international destinations.
So, while that is good news for some, it will impact others.

If you are making regular calls for business or to family and friends, make sure you are aware of the price increase, so that when your next bill arrives there isn't a shock.
What can you do?
- Shop around – See if there are better deals to be had by other providers.
- Think about other options such as WhatsApp, Skype, Zoom or FaceTime rather than making a traditional telephone call – you will need WiFi or data for these.
- For businesses, there are mobile VoIP services that enable calling to international phone numbers at cheap rates – this also needs WiFi.
