Celebrate without overspending – it pays to shop around

Are you starting to plan your Christmas dinner, or stock up on seasonal items like crackers, puddings and snacks?

Prices for festive essentials vary widely across supermarkets – sometimes surprisingly so – which is why we recently re-launched our dedicated Christmas page on Prices.je, to help you shop around for the best festive deals.

Whether it’s turkey and all the trimmings, dessert and cheese that you’re after, or chocolates, savoury snacks and seasonal accessories, make sure you check out our price comparison website first to avoid paying over the odds this Christmas.

We monitor prices across six supermarket chains – Waitrose, Marks and Spencer, the Coop. Alliance, Iceland and Morrisons.

Our volunteers were out in the supermarkets with their clipboards earlier this week, and the latest grocery prices are now live.

As well as Christmas essentials, we monitor the prices of over 200 other everyday grocery items, as well as fuel, heating oil, and even mobile phone contracts.

This week’s grocery surveys show some notable changes across the Island, so it’s worth checking where you can get the best value before heading out to shop.

Whether you’re planning Christmas dinner, or just topping up on essentials, a quick comparison can save you more than you might think.

Stores are likely to have promotions on different products at different times, so it’s always worth comparing prices on our sites before heading out to buy your Christmas essentials.

And remember – ‘three for two’, or ‘buy one get one free’, are only a good deal if that’s how many you actually need.

Products surveyed on our new Christmas page include turkey, Pigs in Blankets, stuffing balls, sprouts and roast potatoes, as well as chocolate sharing tubs, snack caddies, Christmas puddings, mince pies, cheese selections, and Christmas crackers.

Before you stock up, check prices.je to see where your money goes furthest.
It’s quick, independent and designed to help islanders make informed shopping decisions.

Remember, it pays to shop around this Christmas.
