Jersey Post introduce additional packaging charges on large parcels

Jersey Post have announced they will be charging customers a £5 ‘packing surcharge’ for all large parcels not packaged in a cardboard box.

The charge will come in from Monday, 12 May and will apply to all parcels with a weight between two to 30kg.

Jersey Post said that the reason for this is because poorly packaged items can’t be processed through automated sorting machines and instead must be processed manually and stressed that it is important for customers to package items properly to ensure that they are protected during transit.

“These charges have been applied by our delivery partners to compensate for the manual handling process involved in sorting and shipping poorly packaged items,” they said. “Packaging your items in a cardboard box means your parcel can go through the sorting machines smoothly and help to avoid manual handling surcharges.”
